Personal Project: Process 1

I think for this project I want to do something of a self-portrait. I have a few photos of myself that I would love to edit and distort in a cool way. I am imagining a really groovy and fun maybe almost scrapbook-like final photo. I think it would be cool to print out this edited photo and add doodles and other things over top and under neither it and then frame it.

  1. Hi Rebecca! I love this idea, I've also been thinking about taking a self-portrait direction! Love all of the images included here already. They're all so fun and different! I think you have a lot of room for exploration with this one. Maybe think about color palettes and perspective, how you want the audience to view these. It seems like you're having fun with it already! I'm excited to see your progress, good luck with the end of the semester! :)

  2. I really enjoy your approach to this, creating a safe container for exploration of the self, through enjoyment and fun! It feels like a personal celebration of the self, and I'm excited to see how you will employ elements of design to convey emotion onto the surfaces. I always enjoy viewing self-portraiture because I'm able to see how a person interprets themselves, and see different invisible layers of the self. I'm looking forward to seeing how your project develops.

  3. I think this idea is really interesting. I think your inspiration photos are really fun and I look forward to seeing how you combine some of the various ideas within your own piece. I'm really curious about your idea of adding doodles both underneath and over top of your image. Would you add them as separate layers like in a shadow box or would the doodles just interact with the image in a way that suggests such depth? Either way I think this is a really interesting concept and I look forward to seeing your progress!

  4. Hi Rebecca! I love this idea! I think the fractured elements from the first photo are really successful and I think your doodles are going in a great direction so far as well. I'm so excited to see how they develop together!
